Life in 2020....

In 2020 things will be very convenient as far as daily life goes. At the rate its going right now, there is technology out there that can basically do anything we want it to do, but it is way to expensive. Just like other things such as the cell phone, when it came out it was really expensive, but in time it was able to be made more conveniently priced for the average consumer. In 2020 we will see things such as ovens that can be turned on when ur on ur way home just by sending a text or other household items that can be controled by your cell phone. Things will just be constantly being made more easy. To be honest, I think one day no one will have to work, and everyone will just be able to sit around and do whatever because technology will be able to do everything that is needed. Technology is already taking jobs of people every day.

Prime Time

What used to be just a DVD that was put together turned out to be a very successful extreme sports adrenaline show featuring Travis Pastrana. This show is called Nitro Circus. Travis Pastrana, Jolene VanVugt, Andy Bell, Tommy Passemante, Jim DeChamp, Erik Roner, Jeremy Rawle, Hubert Rowland, Gregg Godfrey, Special Greg and Cam McQueen are the main crew in the show.
Out of these ten men are one woman. But this woman is a professional motocross racer. She is always competing with the guys in this testosterone driven show. There is only a few people that are over 40 years of age, which would be Travis Pastrana’s parents. The only person on in the crew that is overweight would be Tommy Passemante. Throughout the shows Tommy always does funny things with his extra weight and keeps the crew laughing.
The leading role is held by a man, Travis Pastrana. The only woman on the show Jolene VanVugt and she dress’s basically the same as the guys on the show. Usually wears just a t-shirt and shorts or jeans. The women in this show are portrayed in a good way in this case. This show shows that women can do things too, and that they are capable of doing a lot. None of the women on the show are minorities or homosexual.
As far as audience, this show is intended for anyone who loves exciting, adrenaline rush packed shows. Most of the audience is people that are fans of Travis Pastrana and all of the amazing things Travis has accomplished in his motocross career and still is making his fans aw in amazement nearly every time there is a new episode of Nitro Circus. Overall this show portrays women inaccurately because the average women could not do any of the things that Jolene does on this show. But you have to remember, she is a professional at what she does.

Commercial deconstruction

The advertisement I chose to deconstrut was a 30 second video advertisement from Verizon Wireless. It is a back to school sale ad. It relates to my life because I have a Verizon phone and use their services every day.

I chose this particular commercial to deconstruct because I can relate to the commercial. For example, both of my parents use text massaging to communicate with me and my family. And in the advertisement it shows a couple parents using their phones in a very intense manner and it is making their kids angry.

This commercial uses the "Bandwagon" type of persuasion technique. This particular ad uses this technique to help lure people in to using Verison services. They show a family that is very engrossed in the product in a way that will hopefully make you think it will help you very much if you buy their product. The people in the advertisement use the products very intensely to help persuade you to buy them because they seem to be very neccesary in you're life.

The Super Bowl

If you were the owner of a television broadcasting company, and could make 30 million dollars in 30 seconds, I'm certain that you wouldn't care what the commercials were about. It’s all about money. And I imagine they allow it because they do make it amusing and entertaining in some way. For example, the Real “Men of Genius” commercials are hilarious.  Another thing is that people like to drink alcohol while watching the game as well. So when advertising for alcohol that may persuade someone to buy a beer right then at the game. The fast food advertisements are helping persuade people to buy fast food maybe when there either at the game or after the game. These two things are common interests in football fans too, so when you advertise the right things at the right time you can sell way more product.

Childhood and TV

Growing up me, my brother and my sisters never watched TV. Although we had channels and everything. Then we moved in 1999 and then we just didnt get channels. Never do I remember waisting time watching TV as a kid. I grew up outside pretty much. So no one monitored how much TV I watched because I didn't watch any!

My viewing habbits as a child have affected my viewing habbits as a young adult. They affected them because I do not have a craving for TV. Although if I had watched a lot of TV as a child I would most likely want to keep watching TV as a young adult. But since I didn't watch next to none as a child, I do not miss it at all because I'v never had it. Think about how much money my family has saved not having TV! Thats pretty much 18 years without having to pay $40 a month. Thats nearly $9,000!

TV Ratings

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if all TV shows did not have a rating? Well before 1997 they didn't do such a thing. I think this is a very good change. I find these ratings are very uesfull. Because 1997 parents did not know what kind of language and content a program would contain. Now that programs show ratings before and during the program, it is easy for parents to know what their kids are watching, or for anyone to know what kind of content will be on a program.

Your Vote

As an American citizen, I personally think voting in elections is a very important. Having family that hold positions in my district, I know how important it is to vote in any election, wether it may be for sherriff or district judge or anything for that matter. Its free, and it DOES count. It may not seem like much but it will help. Its like collecting pennies, one penny may not seem like much but 10,000 pennies is $100! Being able to vote is a right as a citizen, and its overlooked by millions every year.

In the presidential election held 2 years ago I did not vote, because I was not of age. If I were to have voted I would have voted for Obama. Not only because would be the first African American President, but because he seems to be a very confident, honest, straight forward citizen that looks to have what it takes to run a country.
