Your Vote

As an American citizen, I personally think voting in elections is a very important. Having family that hold positions in my district, I know how important it is to vote in any election, wether it may be for sherriff or district judge or anything for that matter. Its free, and it DOES count. It may not seem like much but it will help. Its like collecting pennies, one penny may not seem like much but 10,000 pennies is $100! Being able to vote is a right as a citizen, and its overlooked by millions every year.

In the presidential election held 2 years ago I did not vote, because I was not of age. If I were to have voted I would have voted for Obama. Not only because would be the first African American President, but because he seems to be a very confident, honest, straight forward citizen that looks to have what it takes to run a country.

The Power Of Media

In today’s world, 90% of what you say, doesn’t come from your mouth. You may ask yourself how this works. Think about it, when you see someone/something you immediately think something about that someone/something. That’s what I’m talking about.
Ask yourself this, could Abe Lincoln be elected today if he were around? The chances are very slim. The difference between modern day presidents and presidents from back then are tremendous. Now days Abe Lincoln would look like someone from a horror movie on television, sad to say it but he would.
Television has changed presidential elections. People are not able to just hear the people running for office, but see them talk and react live. People make decisions on what they see now days as to what they hear. Example could be Nixon and Kennedy on the first broadcast on TV of a presidential debate, on TV it looked like Kennedy won, but yet on the radio it sounded like Nixon won. So you can think of how seeing them makes a tremendous influence.

Downloading

Have you ever wondered how it would feel if someone was able to steal from you millions of time a day without being able to stop them? Well try being a musician in 2010. Downloading music is almost normal for teens across America. Not only is it so normal for teens to download it, its also illegal!
I am very much involved with music, every day of my life. Whenever I have time to spare, I’m listening to music. I used to download music to be honest, but not anymore once I realized how much of a pain it is to get clean music files that are not attached to a bunch of other files or viruses. I now pay 15$ a month for unlimited music downloads through Microsoft for my Zune HD mp3 music player. Not only does it make it easier to find music and get the music you want, its legal to do. So I do not have to worry about getting unwanted files on my computer or viruses.

Me And Music

Ever hear your parents tell you “turn that crap off, that’s not music!”? Well I heard that a lot growing up because the music I listened too was a lot different from what my parents listened to as a kid so they didn’t like it at all. While most kids my age were listening to country and occasional rock, I was listening to metal.
I loved listening to metal because it fit my personality. I started listening to metal when I started lifting in 7th grade. This kind of music helped keep me going and kept me motivated. In my grade, I was one of very few that listened to music like me. Not only did very few people in my grade listen to my music, only a select few liked the type of music I listened too.
One of my favorite bands would have to be Slipknot. Even today they are still my favorite band. In my eyes Slipknot is one of the most talented bands. They have 9 people in their band. And when all 9 of them put their heads together they get a distinct sounding music that is one of a kind.
I liked this kind of music because it was different than what everyone else listened too. I didn’t like to be the same, I liked to be different in what I did, and listened too. Older people didn’t like my style of music because its way different than to what they listened too when they were kids. Music has evolved into many new genres of music.
In conclusion, I think that all people in the world enjoy different types of music based off of their interests and what they do. Music is a way of being unique because there is so many different types of music out there. I hope one day that people will respect what you as an individual listens too even if they are older and grew up in a different time.
